This Thursday, the Visual & Critical Studies Department will host its annual Open Studio event. Here’s a description provided by faculty member Amy Wilson, who helped organize and install part of the exhibition:

It’s a yearly tradition: as the semester winds down, each department at SVA holds an Open Studio, opening their doors to the public and showing off the work of their students. Colleagues, peers, friends, and family turn out for a fun, festive celebration of the academic year’s work. This Thursday, it’s VCS’s turn.

Over in the 7th floor studios at 136 West 21st Street, 4th year students will be participating in their first exhibition since the thesis show. Right across the street on the sixth floor of 133 West 21st, several students from the 1st through 3rd years have their work up for viewing.

At 6:30 p.m. during VCS Open Studios, VCS 4th-year student Joana Fittipaldi and her collaborator Sophia Ribeiro will also present dis connected, a performance project that I described in this earlier blog post.

The VCS Open Studios will run from 5 to 8 p.m. this Thursday evening, April 28th. The event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there.
